Post-Doctoral/Tenure-Track Position

NeuroCentre Magendie

Bordeaux, France

(posted 5/21/2009)

The Neurocentre Magendie / U862 INSERM / Université de Bordeaux 2, France, is offering tenure track positions for early-stage scientists in various fields of neuroscience research.

The Neurocentre Magendie, located on the campus of the University of Bordeaux 2 (Medical and Life Sciences), is a multidisciplinary INSERM centre dedicated to the study of the nervous system and its associated pathologies, from cellular and molecular mechanisms to neurology and cognition. It provides a young, international, dynamic and multidisciplinary working environment, as well as access to state-of-the art core facilities for molecular and cellular biology, biochemistry, imaging and behavioral studies. The Neurocentre is part of an ambitious project leading to the formation of a Neurocampus, further strengthening Bordeaux as an important European Neuroscience center.

Positions are currently open for ambitious and talented scientists interested in joining the laboratory of Dr. Daniela Cota. Dr. Cota’s group studies the hypothalamic neuronal circuits and intracellular signaling cascades that are involved in the CNS regulation of food intake and body weight. A multidisciplinary approach is used, including analysis of behavior in different animal models (diet-induced obese rodents, conditional and whole body knockouts), pharmacology, imaging and molecular biology techniques. Candidates with a background in energy balance regulation or metabolism and experience in molecular biology, neuronal tissue culture or mouse models are encouraged to apply.

Candidates have to be less than 40 years old, and need to have a previous post-doctoral research experience. Candidates can be nationals of any country. This is a 3- to 5-year position, with the possibility to obtain a tenure position after this period.

Full-Time.

Applications, including CV and short statement of interest, and the names of at least two academic references should be sent to Dr. Daniela Cota at daniela.cota@inserm.fr.
