The Ottawa Hospital (TOH) is a dynamic and innovative professional practice environment and a provider of patient-centred health services with an emphasis on tertiary-level and specialty care.  This multi-campus organization employs over 14,000 persons including 4,000+ nurses, forming one of Canada’s largest teaching hospitals.

The Ottawa Hospital is currently completing construction on a new state of the art outpatient Bariatric Centre of Excellence, and corresponding inpatient Bariatric unit, the two new units will be specifically setup for bariatrics patients.  The new Bariatric Centre of Excellence will be a combined medical and surgical program, with a multidisciplinary team of dietitians, behaviorists, social work, psychology, and Exercise Specialist, and operations mangers.

The Ottawa Hospital is currently recruiting for a Permanent Full-time Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) to join one of Canada’s leading Bariatric Programs.

TOH Advanced Practice Nurses ensure nursing excellence through five components of their role: complex clinical care, consultation practice, education of professionals, leadership within their program and corporately, as well as and conducting research.  This leadership role takes place within an innovative environment that supports a unique framework of delivery of nursing and interprofessional care – TOH Model of Nursing Clinical Practice and TOH Interprofessional Model of Patient Care.

Qualifications

Candidates must posses a Master’s Degree in Nursing or a related discipline, two years or more of nursing experience working in one of the above noted areas, superior communication and analytical skills and a thorough understanding of the challenges related to delivery of care in a major teaching hospital.  Membership or eligibility for membership in the College of Nurses of Ontario and Registered Nurses Association of Ontario is required.
