The USDA, Agricultural Research Service (ARS) at the Grand Forks Human Nutrition Research Center, is seeking a permanent, full-time scientist to serve as a Research Nutritionist/Research Psychologist in the Nutritional Determinants of Health Research Unit.  The incumbent will conduct independent as well as team based research as part of a multi-disciplinary team of scientists addressing Dietary Guidelines adherence and the maintenance of healthy body weight.  The researcher will utilize dietary and physical activity interventions, and biomedical, nutritional and behavioral tools as part of human randomized clinical and observational studies conducted in controlled feeding and/or community-placed settings.  The primary goal of the program is to serve the health interests of American consumers.  There are, however, potential benefits for specific agricultural and food industry groups.  The goal of the incumbent’s research is to provide scientific evidence upon which food and nutrition can be based.  To this end, the incumbent will investigate individual responses to dietary and physical interventions using biomedical, nutritional, and psychological tools to assess dietary practices, nutritional status, physical activity, exercise performance, body composition, and  related behaviors to evaluate the efficacy and sustainability of such interventions.
