| Paul Franks Named Postdoc/Grad Student Committee Chair |
 |
|
Carrie Matteson Introduces Paul Franks
Graduate school is a learning experience on many
levels, and the degree that we work for in the end is
only part of the prize of our education. The
opportunities for creativity and exposure to new
thinking is phenomenal. The next phase of education is
the postdoctoral fellowship. We must then decide
which path to take - a career in academics or
transitioning into industry. I have recently made the
leap into private industry, and am very proud to
welcome and introduce the new chair of the
postdoc/graduate student committee, Paul
Franks. Paul
trained and earned his PhD as part of the Diabetes
Research Group at the University of Cambridge, UK. He
focussed upon the interaction of genetic factors and
physical activity energy expenditure in the metabolic
syndrome. Paul will soon begin his postdoc in Arizona.
As an already active committee member, he is ready to
receive your feedback and continue working to make
young researchers a valuable asset within the NAASO
organization. Best of luck to Paul, and thank you to
everyone who made my years in NAASO such a
valuable experience. - Carrie
Best of luck, Carrie. Welcome
Paul!
