REGISTRATION

1. Registration can be submitted online, by fax or email. Click Here for online registration and downloadable forms. Attendees can also register via phone at 1-888-241-8405 (US and Canada only) or 972-349-7485 (International).


3. All speakers, chairs and co-chairs (members and non-members) will receive instructions with a special link for registration. If you have questions, please email education@obesity.org. This does NOT include poster presenters. They should register as conference attendees in the appropriate category.


4. The Obesity Society is pleased to offer complimentary media credentials to journalists employed by accredited news organizations attending the meeting for the purpose of editorial coverage. Press must mail or fax a completed registration form to Jane Pratt along with one of the following: a letter of assignment on the letterhead of the news organization being represented, a business card issued by a recognized news organization, or media identification.

6. Your registration fee includes access to all scientific sessions, poster sessions, exhibits, a registration bag, final program, abstract book and supplement, an opening reception beverage ticket and one ticket for the opening Exhibit Hall lunch on Sunday, October 25th.


7. Yes, as long as you can provide all of the necessary information and payment.


8. No. Tracks are open to all attendees. We ask for interest for demographic purposes.


9. No, in order to visit the exhibits you must purchase a full conference registration.


10. There is a one-day registration available to NON-MEMBERS only for Monday, October 26. All other registrants must purchase a full conference registration in the appropriate category.

12. No, for 2009 we have decided to leave the evenings open for networking and exploring. A special Monument by Moonlight Tour is available on Tuesday, October 27th. Tickets are available for purchase through Globetrotter Travel Management, our official travel agent.


13. No, you will receive an electronic proof by email prior to the meeting for review. Badges will be ready for pickup at the pre-registration counters on site.


14. Name changes are accepted as long as the person falls in the same registration category. Please contact tcavallo@obesity.org.


15. Cancellation and refund requests must be submitted in writing and postmarked on or before September 30, 2009. Refund requests postmarked on or before this date will receive a 50% refund. Refund requests postmarked after September 30, 2009 will not be honored. Send refund request to: Obesity 2009 Registration Refunds; tcavallo@obesity.org or fax to (240) 208-0300.

16. The 2009 Obesity Society Awards Program offers several awards including: The Atkinson-Stern Public Service Award, The George A. Bray Founders Award, The TOPS Research Achievement Award, The Lilly Scientific Achievement Award, The Stunkard Lifetime Achievement Award, The Ethan Sims Young Investigator Award, and Pat Simons Travel Grants. 19. Exhibitors may register booth personnel at no charge. Booth personnel registration includes access to the exhibit floor during move-in, show days and move-out. Each exhibiting company receives one complimentary full conference registration for each 10x10 booth unit purchased. Additional full conference registrations may be purchased through the attendee registration site.


GENERAL INFORMATION

20. The meeting will be held October 24-28, 2009 at the Washington Marriott Wardman Park Hotel, 2660 Woodley Road, NW, Washington DC, 2008. Please visit Obesity 2009 for more information.


21. No, but the registration fees are reduced for members.


22. The Obesity Society offers several types of Accreditation and Continuing Education Credit Opportunities. Information on how to claim credits will be available in the final program and on site. Please visit our Continuing Education page for more information.


23. The poster sessions will be held adjacent to the Exhibit Hall at the Washington Marriott Wardman Park Hotel.


24. Authors can place posters at 10:00 am on the day of their presentation. Posters must be removed at the end of presentation times on the same day. Posters will be removed from the board and discarded if authors do not remove their posters by this time.


25. Poster boards are horizontal in orientation and are 4' x 8'. Please allow for 4' x 8' minus 2" on each side for the frame of the poster board.


26. The abstract deadline was April 24, 2009. Submitters will be notified the week of June 8 whether their abstract was accepted as an oral, poster or declined.


27. The Obesity Society is planning a "late-breaking clinical trial session" to highlight the results of significant, multicenter trials (of therapeutics, devices, or interventions (e.g., diet, exercise) that will be of broad interest to our membership. The Late-Breaking Clinical Trial Abstract submission site will open on Monday, June 8 and close on Monday, August 31 at noon EST.


28. Children under the age of 16 are not permitted in the Exhibit Hall at any time. Parents or guardians may bring children under the age of 17 to educational and social events, provided the children do not disrupt the event.


29. Meeting rooms and ancillary events are only permitted for companies who participate in the meeting as an exhibitor or sponsor. You may submit your request via the form in the exhibitor kit or by email to tcavallo@obesity.org.


30. Yes. On-site private vehicle parking is available through valet or self-park. Prices vary frequently and are established solely by the garage owner. The Obesity Society does not validate parking.


31. The Woodley Park Metro Station (red line) is one block from the Washington Marriott Wardman Park Hotel. For details on metro transportation, please visit www.wmata.com.

33. If you have a disability that will have an impact on your participation in the meeting, please contact us via email at tcavallo@obesity.org or indicate it on your hotel reservation request form. We cannot ensure the availability of appropriate accommodations without prior notification.
